AMBASSADOR story

From the Clinic to the Community—Here from a nurse leading change

“Nursing’s expertise extends beyond clinical care—it belongs in the voting booth. Every shift, we see how policy affects patient outcomes, safe staffing, equitable access, and our ability to practice to the full extent of our training. Voting isn’t just a right—it’s a professional responsibility. Using our voice to influence the decisions that shape our profession and the health of every community we serve is a duty. Stand united. Advocate fiercely. Vote with purpose—because nursing and lives depend on it!”

Your passion for civic engagement can help create healthier communities and heal our democracy on a national scale.

Why is this important?

As a Vot-ER Ambassador, you are also a community leader—and your voice helps shape a healthier, more inclusive democracy. The more health professional and advocate voices we reach, the deeper our roots grow in communities. States that have greater voter participation see healthier outcomes. So, there is an opportunity to encourage patients to be self-advocates by playing a leading role in our democracy & collective future.

Who can apply?

You’re eligible if you:

  • Are presenting at a health-related conference
  • Use Vot-ER tools in your work or institution,
  • Have participated in a Vot-ER program (e.g., Fellowship, Healthy Democracy Campaign, trainings),
or have previously presented on voting and health

This program is especially meaningful for those most rooted in community—community health workers, maternal health advocates, social workers, and public health professionals—and equally welcomes nurses, pharmacists, dentists, and physicians who are committed to advancing health equity through civic action.

What is the Vot-ER Inspire Program?

This program offers a $500 stipend, coaching, and free resources to healthcare professionals and advocates who are presenting at health-related conferences. Ambassadors spotlight the connection between voting and health, and mobilize their peers to take nonpartisan civic action.
